Gudauri is situated on the main Caucasian range not far from the Cross Pass on the Georgian Military Road, at 120 km distance from Tbilisi.

Similarly, just north of the Jvari Pass the Truso valley, famous for its mineral water, invites hikers into an area of dramatic high altitude scenery. Most famous of all hikes in the area starts at the foot of the looming Mt Kazbek. You walk through Gergeti village; wind up a small mountainside to the Holy Trinity Church, perched dramatically on a hillock under the dramatic gaze of Mt Kazbek.
